Cedarwood No. 443 is a woody aromatic perfume built on three notes: cedarwood, aged patchouli and basil. Cedarwood carries it — dry, resinous, close-grained, the smell of a fresh cut through seasoned timber. Aged patchouli sits underneath and pulls it into the earth, dark and a little sweet, without any of the rawness that puts people off young patchouli. Basil lifts the top and keeps the whole thing green and awake rather than heavy. Everything else in the blend — lavender through the heart, a citrus opening, a warm resinous base — is there to hold those three up. Hand-blended in the Southern Highlands at 20–25% concentration, and it wears the same on anyone. Formerly sold as Valhalla — same blend, same bottle, new name.

The scent
