One brush, every morning, for years. The Premium badger sits right in the sweet spot — enough backbone to lift stubble, soft enough to enjoy, thirsty enough to whip soap into a thick, protective lather. The everyday brush you'll reach for daily.
Made to be kept
It's also just a beautiful object — one of the few badger shaving brushes still handmade in Australia. Each handle is turned by hand from solid timber in Moss Vale, sealed to live by the basin and deepen in colour over the years, no two the same. It makes a genuine gift, too: add a name or initials and it becomes properly personal. The kind of thing someone keeps for a decade and reaches for every single morning.
The Wave Stand comes with every brush, in matte charcoal, so the bristles dry the right way up. A $25 value, in the box — nothing else to buy.

- TeakWarm and golden, with a straight, even grain that wears like iron.
- OliveWild, swirling figure — no two pieces remotely alike.
- Huon pineThe rare one: pale, fine and naturally fragrant — a prized Tasmanian timber.
No two handles are alike — the one you receive is one of one.

Add initials, a name or a short message to any timber handle — just choose "Custom Engraving (+$20)" when you pick your handle. A nice touch if it's a gift. Timber handles only.
Why it works
- Premium badger knot — the balance of soft tips and real backbone
- Holds water generously, so soap turns to dense, slick, protective lather
- Hand-shaped Australian timber, sealed to live by the basin and age beautifully
- Wave stand included — dries the bristles the right way up
- Made by one person in the Southern Highlands
How to build a great lather
New to a shaving brush, or buying for someone who is? A rich lather takes about a minute.
- Soak the brush in warm water for a minute to soften the bristles while you wet your face.
- Load the brush — swirl it over your shaving soap for 15–20 seconds, until the brush is full of soap.
- Build the lather, working the brush in circles and adding a few drops of water at a time until it turns thick and glossy. You'll get a richer, more even lather in a bowl — there's room to whip air through it.
- Swirl and strike it back and forth across your face to lay down a slick, protective layer, then shave. Rinse the brush, shake it out and stand it bristles-down on the Wave to dry.

Questions, answered
- Will a badger brush shed?
- A few loose hairs in the first couple of lathers is normal. A quality knot settles fast and shouldn't keep shedding after that.
- Are badger shaving brushes worth it?
- A good badger knot holds far more water than synthetic or boar, so it whips soap into a richer, warmer lather and makes the shave genuinely better. With simple care it lasts a decade or more — for a daily shaver, well worth it.
- How do I use a shaving brush?
- Soak it in warm water, swirl it on your soap for 15–20 seconds to load it, then build the lather in a bowl or on your face, adding a little water until it's thick and glossy. Full steps are above.
- Do I need to break it in?
- Badger softens over the first week or two as the tips open up. Give it a few shaves and it only gets better.
- Which timber should I choose?
- Teak and olive are warm and hard-wearing; Huon pine is rarer, lighter and naturally aromatic. All are sealed for the bathroom.
- Badger or synthetic?
- Badger holds more water and many prefer the feel; synthetic is vegan, faster-drying and lower-maintenance.
- Where do the bristles come from?
- Our bristles come from the traditional heartlands of wet-shaving — the United Kingdom, China and Germany — through trusted suppliers we've worked with for over 15 years. Every brush is then made, finished and packed by hand here in Moss Vale.
- How long will it last?
- Years — a decade or more with simple care. See the Brush Care Guide.
- Where are Stuga brushes made?
- Every brush is hand-turned by one person in Moss Vale, in the NSW Southern Highlands — one of the few badger shaving brushes still made in Australia.
Reliable, refined, built for the daily ritual — the brush you'll reach for every morning.
