White Musk No. 421

White Musk No. 421 is a soft woody musk perfume built on three notes: silver birch, blackcurrant and white musk. Blackcurrant opens it dark and tart, silver birch runs a dry pale grain through the middle, and white musk closes it warm and clean, sitting close to the skin. Everything else in the blend — bergamot, hinoki, oakmoss, amber — is there to hold those three up. Hand-blended in the Southern Highlands at 20–25% concentration, and it wears the same on anyone. Formerly sold as Eclipse — same blend, same bottle, new name.

The scent

It opens on blackcurrant — dark, tart and a little wild, the way the fruit actually smells on the bush rather than in a jar. Bergamot lifts it, and a soft sweetness underneath keeps the citrus from ever turning austere. Sure of itself from the first spray, without ever raising its voice.

Then silver birch carries it. Pale, dry, faintly smoky — the smell of bark and cold air, structure without weight. Hinoki sits alongside for an almost serene softness, and violet leaf threads something green and modern through the middle. This is where a birch perfume earns its keep: composed by someone who knows how the pieces sit, not just blended and bottled.

The base is white musk, and it is the reason people lean closer. Warm, clean, skin-like — it smooths every edge and turns the woods from sharp to soft.
